OPTIMIZATION AND STATIC ANALISYS OF THE FLP2000 PORTAL MILLING BED FRAME FROM: CAST IRON CONSTRUCTION TO WELDED CONSTRUCTION

Claudiu Ioan RUSAN, Mihai CIUPAN, Cornel CIUPAN

Abstract

This paper presents ways to optimize the structural elements of machine-tools. To highlight the differences in these structures, two models of bed frames were designed for the Titan FLP2000 portal milling machine used for planar milling, an initial design based on traditional cast iron fabrication and a second one consisting of welded construction using high strength materials. The two structures were analyzed using finite-element analysis with the help of the SolidWorks software package
