PERFORMANCES OF THE PERMANENT MAGNET SYNCHRONOUS AND THE SWITCHED RELUCTANCE MACHINE USED IN AUTOMOTIVE TRACTION APPLICATIONS
Abstract
The goal of the present paper is to analyze comparison wise two structures of electrical machines applicable for automotive traction. The chosen machines are the permanent magnet synchronous one and the switched reluctance one. The comparison is handled by theoretical aspects, like design, analytical approach and finite element based simulations. The comparison is carried out starting from the same requirements and comparing their behavior in the same motor regimes. The performances of each machine are highlighted concluding with the advantages and drawbacks of each of them.
