Abstract

The aim of this study was to do a comparative evaluation of tribological properties of three types of brake pad materials by using a homemade pin-on-real brake disc tribometer. The pins were extracted from commercially available brake pads by using a Computer Numerical Control machine (CNC), while as disc was used a real brake disc from grey cast iron. During the tribological tests, it was also measured the contact temperature variation of the tribopair by using a non-contact sensor. The results showed some differences in coefficient of friction, wear loss and temperature of the tested materials.
