IMMERSIVE LEARNING AND QUANTUM ENGAGEMENT: A FRAMEWORK FOR GEN Z IN METAVERSE CONTEXTS
Abstract
Educational technology keeps adding headsets and algorithms, but what actually keeps learners engaged? We introduce Quantum Engagement, a framework for sustained involvement in metaverse learning built on four forces: real-time interactivity, enacted bodily agency and presence, the emotional tone of experience, and the coherence/complexity of symbolic cues (narrative, sound, visuals, spatial design). Using a sequential mixed-methods design, we refine constructs via interviews with instructors, designers, and students, then test the model in Gen Z metaverse courses. Findings indicate that enacted presence bridges interactive design and durable engagement, symbolic richness amplifies emotional influence, and raw interactivity rarely suffices. The framework shifts attention from surface features to experiential coherence and offers guidance for curriculum, platform architecture, and strategy, with priorities for cross-cultural, longitudinal tests.
