INNOVATIONS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MISSILE FORCES AND ARTILLERY OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND

Abstract


Influenced by lessons from the war in Ukraine and rapid technological advancements, the Polish Armed Forces are undertaking a comprehensive modernization of their Missile Forces and Artillery. This paper analyzes the transition from legacy Soviet-era systems to modern, NATO-interoperable platforms, focusing on the strategic integration of unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
A central focus is the GLADIUS reconnaissance-strike system, an innovative solution combining reconnaissance UAVs with loitering munitions to provide autonomous, deep-strike capabilities. The study also addresses critical challenges, including system complexity and survivability, demonstrating how Poland is developing a flexible and precise force for the contemporary multidomain battlefield.
