Abstract

Knowledge of theequipment life cycle is important because it provides a basis for understandinghow and where reliability engineering enters into the process of designing, producing, andoperating the automationequipment. The equipment life cycle is broken into distinct phases, eachrepresenting a unique portion of the equipment life. These phases provide the framework fortracking reliability throughout the life cycle of the equipment and guidance on when and where toapply resources.
