Abstract

Potential coping strategies can be influenced, exchanged, learned or forgotten, through different ways such as psychological training programs, personal experiences or psychotherapy. Coping can’t be labelled as functional or dysfunctional on itself, its’ success depending on a multitude of personal and environmental factors. Knowledge of coping strategies used by individuals in stressful situations related to rescue activities represents the starting point in developing psychological programs, aiming at developing adaptive coping strategies and increasing rescuers’ psychological well-being.
