EXPERIMENTAL AND NUMERICAL STUDY REGARDING THE INFLUENCE OF FRICTION ON THE MATERIAL FLOW AND THE DEFORMATION FORCE IN CLOSE DIE FORGING PROCESS

Mariana POP, Dan FRUNZA

Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to study from  experimental point of view and by numerical simulation the influence of the friction coefficient on the material flow and on deformation force in case of close die forging. The cold  die forging  process of a lead piece is simulated and analyzed. Three values of the coefficient of friction were used for the experimental determination of the deformation force. By numerical simulation, the parameters of the deformation process were determined: stresses, strains, forces, temperatures at different forging stages of the deformation process. Three-dimensional modeling of the billet and the dies are performed by Solid Works, while the simulation  is  performed using Forge software.
