THE INFLUENCE OF WOOD CRIBS SHAPE ON THE MASS LOSS AND TEMPERATURE VARIATION IN ENCLOSED SPACES

Abstract

The shape of wood cribs has an important influence both on the mass loss and on the temperature values recorded inside the fire compartment. Thus, in the case of the wood crib with the highest porosity, both the total mass loss values and the sudden mass loss values measured at the time of wood crib collapse are maximal. Also, the value of the maximum temperature recorded in the fire compartment as well as the burning rate increases with the rise of the crib porosity.
