REVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF A VIBRATION DYNAMIC ABSORBER

Monica BĂLCĂU, Aurora Felicia CRISTEA, Monica BOCA-SAS

Abstract

This review paper addresses a more complex engineering problem, namely, the attenuation of torsional vibrations in engine shafts in vehicles with linear or V-shafts, using dynamic absorbers. Although the theoretical framework of the specialized literature is comprehensive, the studies lack an in-depth critical analysis regarding the practical applicability and implementation of such a dynamic absorber. Designing a damper simultaneously with the overall engine structure is fundamentally different from adapting it to an isolated component. In the paper, the authors try to clearly define the operational criteria for choosing any of the strategies, depending on the specific configuration of the engine, respectively, its shaft.
